How it all started

The idea of Pivot struck Arjun (our founder) when his wife, Sam, wanted to transition from non-profit to media sector. Sam had 7 years of experience as a program manager but felt helpless when it came to pursuing her new goal. Regardless, Sam was determined. She created multiple spreadsheets to track all her to-do’s, researched heavily on the ins and outs of her target role, asked her network for support, and applied to 150+ jobs. After 18 months of hustling and a few freelance gigs, she finally landed her dream role! But it took a lot of determination, hard work, plus a bit of luck to overcome all the messiness and uncertainty that surrounded her on this path.

Seeing Sam’s struggle made Arjun curious about how others achieved their career goals. So, he spoke with 30 people about their career journey. It became obvious that most people hated the haphazardness and loneliness they felt while pursuing a new role. Some even got teary-eyed as they described the horrors of their job search.

That was it! The more Arjun understood how broken the process was, the more he wanted to do something about it. He felt that no one should have to give up on their dream, feel stuck in a dead-end job, or face unemployment due to a business downturn.

So, Arjun started working on a solution – to make it delightfully easy for everyone to achieve their career goals. That’s how Pivot was formed.
